Tammi and Chris’s Block Island elopement was intimate, adventurous, and completely centered around the two of them. From getting ready at The 1661 Inn to exchanging vows along the coast and exploring some of Block Island’s most iconic locations, their day was the perfect example of how meaningful an intimate wedding can be.
Getting Ready at The 1661 Inn
We started the afternoon at The 1661 Inn, where Tammi and Chris got ready before heading out for their ceremony. With no large wedding party or packed timeline, the beginning of their day felt calm and intentional.
Tammi carried a beautiful bouquet by Enchanted Blooms in Deep River, Connecticut, and wore a gown from Covet Bridal. Hair and makeup were done by Petite Spa of Wellness. Every detail felt effortless and perfectly suited for an intimate coastal elopement.
An Intimate Ceremony at Clay Head Beach
From The 1661 Inn, we made our way to Clay Head Beach. Getting there meant a bit of a hike, but the secluded coastline at the end made it more than worth it.
Tammi and Chris met their officiant along the beach and exchanged vows with the ocean behind them. There were no rows of guests or elaborate ceremony setup, just the two of them standing together along the Block Island coast.
After officially becoming husband and wife, we stayed at Clay Head for portraits before continuing around the island.
Exploring Block Island for Wedding Portraits
One of my favorite things about photographing a Block Island elopement is how many completely different landscapes you can experience within one wedding day.
After Clay Head, we explored more of the island for portraits, including the Mohegan Bluffs and one of Block Island’s iconic lighthouses. The cliffs, coastal views, open fields, and historic architecture gave us so much variety while still allowing the day to feel relaxed.
Rather than spending their wedding day rushing from one scheduled event to another, Tammi and Chris were able to experience the island together while I documented everything along the way.

For Tammi and Chris, six hours of photography coverage allowed us to document everything from getting ready through their ceremony and portraits around the island without making their elopement feel like a photoshoot.
