A Catholic Wedding at Aldrich Mansion in Warwick, Rhode Island

If you're dreaming of a Catholic wedding in New England with beautiful architecture, waterfront views, and a little European charm, Aldrich Mansion in Warwick, Rhode Island, deserves a spot on your venue list!

Located along Narragansett Bay, this historic estate is one of Rhode Island's most beautiful wedding venues. Between the mansion itself, the manicured grounds, and the Catholic chapel just steps away, there's so much to love about this property.

As a Catholic wedding photographer serving Connecticut and Rhode Island, I especially love that Aldrich Mansion offers couples the opportunity to celebrate their marriage in a Catholic chapel and host their reception on the same property.

A Historic Rhode Island Wedding Venue

Aldrich Mansion sits on approximately 70 acres overlooking Narragansett Bay, just north of Newport.

The French château-inspired architecture, grand interiors, and waterfront setting make the estate such a beautiful backdrop for wedding photography.

From the stone exterior to the elegant indoor spaces, there are so many opportunities for portraits without having to leave the property.

For couples who love classic New England architecture but want something a little different from a traditional coastal wedding venue, Aldrich Mansion offers both.

A Catholic Wedding at Our Lady of Providence Chapel

One of my favorite features of Aldrich Mansion is Our Lady of Providence Chapel, located right on the estate.

The property is owned by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence, and the chapel allows couples to celebrate their Catholic wedding ceremony just steps away from their reception.

For Catholic couples, this is especially convenient. Rather than having to account for travel between your church and reception venue, everything can take place on the same property.

The chapel accommodates approximately 250 guests, making it suitable for both intimate and larger Catholic wedding celebrations.

Whether you're planning a full Nuptial Mass or a Catholic wedding ceremony outside of Mass, I always recommend discussing the liturgy, marriage preparation, and photography guidelines with the venue and your priest early in the planning process.

Wedding Portraits at Aldrich Mansion

From a photography perspective, there's so much variety at Aldrich Mansion.

The historic stone architecture creates a beautiful backdrop for classic wedding portraits, while the lawns and views of Narragansett Bay offer a completely different setting.

I especially love venues that allow couples to have a variety of portraits without spending a large portion of their wedding day traveling between locations.

The mansion's grand interiors are another beautiful option, particularly when the weather doesn't cooperate.

And if your wedding timeline allows, I always recommend setting aside a few minutes for portraits later in the day when the light begins to soften.

Planning Your Aldrich Mansion Wedding Timeline

One of the biggest advantages of getting married at Aldrich Mansion is having the chapel and reception venue together.

However, it's still important to build a photography timeline around your ceremony.

According to the venue's published guidelines, a full Mass is scheduled approximately one hour before the reception, while a Catholic wedding ceremony outside of Mass is allotted approximately 45 minutes.

I recommend confirming your specific ceremony schedule with the venue and priest before finalizing your timeline.

We'll also want to consider getting-ready coverage, family portraits, wedding party photographs, and time for portraits of the two of you.

With a little planning, you can enjoy the property without feeling rushed from one part of your wedding day to the next.

Why I Love Catholic Weddings in Rhode Island

As a Catholic myself, photographing Catholic weddings is something especially meaningful to me.

I understand the importance of the sacrament of marriage, the order of the Mass, and the significance of the moments taking place throughout the ceremony.

For me, photographing a Catholic wedding is about documenting those moments beautifully while remaining respectful of the liturgy.

A venue like Aldrich Mansion is particularly special because it brings together the traditions of a Catholic ceremony with the beauty of a historic New England estate.
